MINUTES OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE GILCHRIST COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HELD JULY 13, 1992, AT 7:15 P.M.
The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners, in and for Gilchrist County, Florida, convened in an emergency meeting July l3, l992, at 7:l5 P.M., in the Commissioner's Meeting Room at the Courthouse in Trenton, Florida, with the following members present to-wit:
Other persons in attendance were Jackie R. Barron, Ex-Officio Clerk; Glenda Patterson, Deputy Clerk and Ted Burt, County Attorney.
Invocation was provided by Commissioner Mathis followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Burt explained this emergency meeting had been called originally because the county has been named in a federal lawsuit under the civil rights law by a former inmate at the county jail. Originally the county's insurance carrier had indicated our coverage would not include this type of coverage for this type action, however Mr. Barron and Mr. Burt have been advised by telephone today in a conference with the Florida League of Cities they have turned the matter over to an Attorney in Tallahassee, Craig Dennis, to handle the matter. Therefore, the matter is in the process of resolving itself and no action is required by the Commission at this time.
Chairman Sheffield reported Morris Conner, Solid Waste Supervisor, has requested the Board authorize Dixie Sharpe of Mills Engineering to complete the paperwork on Part 2 of the Recycling & Education Grant for '92-93. Motion was made by Commissioner Wilkerson approving this request, seconded by Comissioner Jones and agreed to.
There being no other business to come before the Board, motion was made by Commissioner Wilkerson to adjourn at 7:25 P.M., seconded by Commissioner Jones and agreed to.
