MINUTES OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE GILCHRIST COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HELD AUGUST 4, 1994.
The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners, in and for Gilchrist County, Florida, convened in an emergency meeting on August 4, 1994, at 1:30 p.m., in the Commissioner's Meeting Room at the Courthouse in Trenton, Florida, with the following members present to-wit:
Fred Wilkerson, Chairman
V. C. Cannon
Sue B. Suggs
Other persons in attendance were: Jackie R. Barron, Ex-Officio Clerk, Sherree Pitzarell, Deputy Clerk, Holly Bussard, and Mark Suggs.
Mr. Barron advised the Board that they have two choices regarding the revenue sources for fire services:
1. Impose a half mill for another year, until statistics can be developed indicating the type and number of fire calls in Gilchrist County, or
2. Use the statistics from the State Fire Marshall's office and impose a special assessment for fire services.
Commissioner Suggs made a motion to amend the millage, amend the certification of taxable value, and impose a millage rate of one half mill for fire services for fiscal year 1994-95. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cannon, and unanimously approved.
The Board discussed the need to implement a report form as soon as possible for each fire department, in order for statistical data to be collected.
Mr. Barron reported that the library construction plans have been sent to the state library office.
The Board agreed to change the date of the budget workshop, scheduled for August 15th to August 16th, due to scheduling conflicts.
There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn at 2:25 p.m., was made by Commissioner Suggs, seconded by Commissioner Cannon, and unanimously approved.
