MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE GILCHRIST COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HELD APRIL 11, 1995
The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners, in and for Gilchrist County, Florida, convened in a special meeting on April 11, 1995, at 5:00 p.m., in the Commissioner's Meeting Room at the Courthouse in Trenton, Florida, with the following members present to-wit:

V. C. Cannon
Sue B. Suggs
Other persons in attendance were: Jackie R. Barron, Ex-Officio Clerk, Ted Burt, County Attorney, Ron McQueen, County Coordinator, Sherree Pitzarell, Deputy Clerk, David Brittin, EMS Director, Gary Rexroat and Tammy Sanders, Trenton Medical Center.
Mr. Burt announced that he received a fax for a cooperative agreement between Gilchrist, Dixie, and Alachua counties to hold a hazardous waste collection day, with the addition of a collection point in the city of Trenton. The cost for an additional site is $210.00, and is scheduled for May 20th. Commissioner Suggs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wilkerson, to fund the additional expense for a collection site in the city of Trenton. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Burt presented an agreement with DOT for the use of the old road side park in Fanning Springs for a collection site for hazardous waste. Commissioner Cannon made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Suggs, to approve the agreement. The motion carried unanimously.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR POSITION:
Mr. McQueen reported that he has received three applications for the medical director position. Of those three applicants, two were interviewed. Dr. Janasiewicz is associated with Emergency Physicians, Inc. They currently provide medical director services to Gilchrist County through the Alachua General Hospital. Dr. Janasiewicz is interested in continuing to provide those services as an employee of the Board. Dr. Cox currently works in Gainesville, however, he will be moving to Gilchrist County soon, and will begin working with the Trenton Medical Center on July 1, 1995. Dr. Cox is a cardiologist and second chief of staff at the hospital where he is currently employed. Mr. Gary Rexroat and Ms. Tammy Sanders, Trenton Medical Center, spoke in favor of Dr. Cox, who has indicated a willingness to act as the medical examiner for Gilchrist County, as well. Commissioner Suggs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cannon, to hire Dr. Cox, at a starting rate of a paramedic. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. McQueen reported to the Board that courthouse lawn maintenance will be bid, and the advertisement will be in the paper soon.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn at 5:45 p.m. was made by Commissioner Wilkerson, seconded by Commissioner Suggs, and unanimously approved.
