MINUTES OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE GILCHRIST COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HELD JUNE 26, 2000.
The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners, in and for Gilchrist County, Florida, convened in an Emergency meeting on Monday, June 26, 2000, at 5:05 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room at the Courthouse in Trenton, Florida, with the following members present to wit:
Randy Durden, Chair
Sue B. Suggs
John R. Thomas
Others in attendance were; Sam Ferguson, Finance Director, Ron McQueen, EMA/County Coordinator, Karen Heaton, Deputy Clerk, John Ayers, Sheriff David Turner, Dan Taylor, Dawn Taylor.
Chairman Durden called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m. and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to either declare or to lift the State of Emergency that exist in Gilchrist County because of the threat of wildfire due to the lack of rain.
Ron McQueen reported that the Governor has lifted a “Partial Revocation of Declaration of Severe Drought Emergency” to 27 counties. Gilchrist County was not one of these counties. Mr. McQueen also stated that Gilchrist County was still in an area of critical concern for the State.
The Board discussed the amount of rain received county wide. Motion by Commissioner Wilkerson, seconded by Commissioner Thomas, to lift the “State of Emergency” for the threat of wildfire due to the lack of rain. The motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Commissioner Suggs, seconded by Commissioner Wilkerson, to adjourn at 5:12 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
